So much data and so little time – conference reports and AI
Producing high quality work within rigid time limits is a challenge, and planning and pre-work are key to making it happen. When it comes to developing meaningful congress reports and conference summaries, the preparation phase is almost as involved as the finalisation phase. It takes a combination of understanding your clients’ goals and anticipating what the meeting is actually going to provide – often with limited information given beforehand. Our leadership has a deep-rooted ability to welcome technology-based solutions. Therefore, we have partnered with a local, yet leading, digital think tank (that is driven by curiosity and staffed with AI and IT experts and machine learning pioneers) to streamline our processes.
One of the pain-points in creating a comprehensive report is comprehensively searching the program for relevant sessions and posters. While we still have many feet on the ground at the congresses – something we thoroughly enjoy – the laborious task of sorting what’s relevant to the project from the rest has been greatly lightened by an AI-powered proprietary tool which allows us to use our pre-congress efforts in a more efficient manner.
The evolution of machine learning according to the IBM think tank1
AI consists of any “intelligence” demonstrated by machines. A recent article published by IBM states “Artificial intelligence is technology that enables computers and machines to simulate human learning, comprehension, problem solving, decision making, creativity and autonomy.”1 Generative AI (GenAI) has the ability to generate media (text/image) and “learns” the patterns and structures of data given to it to generate new data (e.g. chatbots). We employ a specific subset of GenAI, namely large language models (LLM) through a structured data extraction approach which allows us to pull relevant data from both structured unstructured sources in an automated fashion that is efficient, scalable and standardised. So this can be done effectively and in the quality you are accustomed to, it is important that we as an agency optimise resources in a manner that it is understandable for LLMs.
infill has always stood for innovation. We think big and not only embrace new tools and their applications but also look to foster the technologies to create those tools.
